Automotive giant creates new app that uses in-car sensors.

BMW’s M Power app records data from sensors in cars and uses that information to record drives, provide lap times, and offers other technical data like braking and acceleration patterns. BMW drivers can also compare separate trips and see them on a map in real-time.

Revealed at the US media launch for the 2014 M6 Gran Coupe in Austin, Texas, the app also works directly with the car's infotainment system and center screen giving users further access to data they wouldn’t normally have seen.
