The Wikibar in Paris offers a unique menu, food with edible coating. The bar is the first in a planned series of bars by the WikiFoods company. The bars will sell WikiPearl products, foods that are protected by a special type of edible skin.

WikiPearl products include yoghurt you can eat without the need for spoons, ice cream that doesn’t melt easily, and cheeses that don’t require a foil wrap. The food in Wikibar can also be taken home in 100% biodegradable packaging.

WikiPearl was first invented by David Edwards in a Harvard classroom. Later on he partnered with designer François Azambourg and biologist Don Ingber to start the WikiFoods company, a company solely focused on natural edible packaging technologies.

The bar was designed by Mathieu Lehanneur who created hexagonal patterns as the main detail of the bar. The next Wikibar will be in Massachusetts. Popup and mobile bars will also be opened in the future.
