Poppy is an accessory that turns any iPhone or fifth generation iPod Touch into a 3D camera and modern-day Viewmaster.

Poppy looks like a pair of wide rectangular binoculars that has a slot where you can insert your iPhone or iPod. Mirrors inside the device capture two stereographic images using the iPhone’s cameras and then its lenses combine these images into a 3D photo or video when viewed through the viewfinder.

The device works with any camera or video app, but the developers have also created a dedicated app for Poppy. Poppy can also be used to view 3D content like photos and videos from the 3D channel of YouTube.

Poppy was created by Snapvine co-founder Joe Heitzberg and Urbanspoon co-founder Ethan Lowry. They recently launched a Kickstarter project which ends July 26th.
