Activists silently fight for the original term to be updated to coincide with current times.

The team behind HACKmarriage project have secretly entered the dictionary section of bookstores and libraries in San Francisco and placed stickers over the ‘Marriage' entry in each one.

The stickers portray a more modern version of marriage, changing the phrase ‘a man and a woman’ to ‘two people,’ and also replacing the original phrase to, ‘the formal union of two people by which they become partners for life.'

The tumblr page encourages people to go out and do the same by offering templates of the phrases to download and print on gum paper.
