Toronto is now home to the world’s largest streetwear shoe collection.

Interior architect Karim Rashid has designed the new Bata Shoe Museum’s exhibition titled ‘Out of the Box: The Rise of Sneaker Culture,’ showcasing notable sneakers throughout history from brands such as Nike and Converse.

The exhibition explores the heritage and culture of the sneakers that are delicately placed into 32 separate clear acrylic pedestals that have been constructed from impact-resistant polyester sheets giving the viewer the illusion that the shoes are hovering midair.

The walls surrounding the exhibit go further into the design process and feature large prints of shoe designers’ original concept drawings and sketches.
