Children’s Soap Bars With Hidden Toys Inside Encourage Hand-Washing [Video]

South African kids were given 'Hope Soap' bars embedded with little gifts and this led to more frequent cleaning.

To encourage South African children to wash their hands frequently, Y&R Zambia gave out ‘Hope Soap’ bars embedded with toys. When used up, the bars’ hidden toys rewarded the kids and therefore make them more enthusiastic about keeping clean.

The children were excited to wash and have a bath because they wanted the toy inside. Design Taxi reports that Y&R Zambia teamed up with The Safety Lab, Dare to Share and Blikkiesdorp4Hope to give out the soap bars to kids in Blikkiesdorp, Western Cape.

A 70% reduction in illnesses and 75% reduction in respiratory infections was reported in the community as a result of this initiative. You can check out the case study in the video below:
