MODEL is a short film about the future of model building in the face of technologies like 3D-printing. The film hones in on the craftsmanship and artistic skill needed to perform this architectural art form, and contemplates the threat of 3D-printing.

The narrative short was directed by Dylan Reibling, an award-winning filmmaker and interactive artist who lives and works in Toronto. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year.

Reibling took a temp job assisting an architectural model builder and became fascinated with the craftsmanship and artistic ability that goes into the work. He believes that the advent of 3D printing poses a problem for this art form and asks “If a machine can spit out a 3D version of a building, is the era of model-making coming to an end?” You can check out MODEL below:
