LumiFold is a portable 3D printer that claims to be one of the easiest to use on the market, and if that isn’t enough to get you interested, there is also the fact it can fit inside a backpack or briefcase.

Measuring just 250 x 120 x 30mm when folded, this 3D printer is extremely compact, with an equally optimized building area of just 90 x 90 x 90mm. While it might be too small for some projects, it could be the perfect companion for those in need of a way to continue working, even while on the move.

It was first designed when the company was asked by a customer to design a small, cheap, easy-to-use, and portable 3D printer that was going to be used for printing dental molds. After months of designing, building prototypes, and going back over their idea, the team managed to create something that fit the bill.

The LumiFold is a resin-based 3D printer, meaning a laser fuses liquid resin into solid form. What makes other printers of the same type is an integrated UV sensor that measures the exact UV light level of a projector. This makes the device compatible with almost any projector, adjusting the layer time as it goes and saving on valuable resin that would otherwise be used configuring the printer.

If you have always had a fascination with 3D printing but wanted to start small (quite literally), then this could be just what you are looking for. For more details, head over to the Indiegogo page and find out how to get your hands on one of these pint-sized printers.
