New technology transmits energy wirelessly, reducing costs and space needed for future charging stations.

Hevo Power – short for Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Optimization – is a wireless charging station for electric cars that will be installed into manholes around New York City. Green Parking Zones will provide drivers with plug-in hybrid or electric cars a more cost efficient way of charging. Eliminating the need of an EV power cord, Hevo Power will charge your vehicle as soon as you park it over the designated zones.

The power station is either installed on the street or embedded in the pavement, and transmits energy via a vehicle receiver that is connected to the battery. Also, there is a smartphone app that notifies drivers of the charge amount, as well as where to park their vehicle. Depending on the application, the current Hevo model can transmit more than 10kW.
