eBay’s Craigslist-Like Service Offers Odd Job Help To Users
eBay launching a new kind of marketplace, where plumbers, cleaners, and others will be able to sell their services.
eBay has announced the launch of eBayHire, a marketplace similar to Craigslist, except instead of used sofas, people can browse eBayHire in search of local service providers.
After a test launch in the UK, eBay is bringing their Hire marketplace to the US, in beta form, where it is currently only accepting requests from service providers. The site will be fully integrated into eBay’s regular site so that when you search for something, a relevant service provider will show up in a sidebar link. For instance, if you search for antique chairs, the local upholster’s profile, could show up as part of a promoted ad. For customers interested in the provider, they simply have to fill in a form and the provider returns with a quote. All payment and signing of contract is done with the professional directly and not through eBay.
