"Meaningless Excitement” turns online highs and lows into a colorful range of clothing.

For their 2014 Spring Summer collection, Y-3 decided to employ the graphic design skills of renowned art director Peter Saville to create a range of clothing and footwear inspired by digital noise. It’s called “Meaningless Excitement” and aims to portray the highs and lows of Internet culture, in particular the relentless pursuit of the next big thing.

The collection is defined by bright colors and random distorted images, all of which were printed onto a variety of waterproof, sheer and cotton fabrics. Prints were used for both the men’s and women’s apparel, most of which have been elongated to reinterpret classic American sportswear. Saville even designed the typography used to display slogans he curated from social media sites.
