Chatwala does away with characterless dialogues by introducing some spontaneity to the conversation. When other video messengers send and receive one-sided messages, this chat app records users’ facial reactions as they open a received message and sends those along as well.

The app is extremely easy to use. People can record and send a message up to 10 seconds in length. Once the message is received, the app will give the viewer 10 seconds to record a reply after their initial reaction. The continuous video conversation can be picked up at any time, and go on for as long as the two people are willing to answer. This back and forth dialogue adds a personal touch to digital communication, and bridges the distance between two friends instantly.
