Running Jacket Lights Up In Response To Body Movements

Utope's jacket is designed to improve pedestrian visibility and security at night.

Currently up for funding on Indiegogo, the Sporty Supaheroe Jacket from Utope features 44 LEDs and sensors that glow in response to your body movements and directional changes.


The high-tech jacket has an integrated flexible and wearable electronic system. It is ultrathin and fastened with Velcro dots on the lining, which can be unbuttoned to allow easy access.

Utope developed the system in cooperation with Fraunhofer IZM in Berlin, Germany. Translucent display areas on the front and back allow the light to be seen on the surface of the jacket. The Sporty Supaheroe Jacket is also moisture resistant and adapted for cleaning. You can find out more about it in the video below:
