Innovative design company NOOKA and New York City artist Jon Burgerman have joined forces to create a new watch, the NOOKA x BURGERMAN K. Longtime friends, Burgerman and Waldman both spoke at the PSFK CONFERENCE 2014 this past April.

The watch marries Burgerman’s signature doodle style with NOOKA founder Matthew Waldman’s vision for products that are both functional and futuristic.

Waldman has a vision of  a universal language of design for his company and looks for art that can carry meaning across different cultures and time periods. He says Burgerman understands that mission, and his work encompasses NOOKA’s goals.

“Jon communicates with the universal language of his art – creating joy around the world. Merging his world with the NOOKA world is extremely satisfying,” Waldman shared with PSFK.

Burgerman’s band design features cartoon pictures of food, including hot dogs, lattes, ice cream and donuts. He says this design is sure to always keep food on the minds of watch owners and is reflective of the culture in which they live. The artist says his design also reflects what’s important in his life.

“I thought about the future and no matter where technology and fashion leads us, we’ll still be needing to eat 5 fruit and or vegetables a day and washing it all down with beer, coffee and ice-cream,” he says. “I’m always hungry so I wanted to make a watch that told you it was lunch time no matter what time it is.”

The watch is a limited edition of 200, is available for pre-sale on NOOKA for $89.
