The Sandmaster is a portable cube that lets users create imprints of the chess pieces on the sand

Inventor Diane Bayard of Switzerland wanted to make it fun and easy to play a giant game of chess on the beach, so she came up with the idea of the SandMaster.

The Sandmaster is a pair of portable plastic cubes that lets players create their own chessboard at the beach by pressing the cube into the sand to create prints of the chess pieces.

A player gets a black or white cube. Each of the six faces of the cube holds an icon representing the six pieces in a chess set. On the white cute, the six pieces are outlined on the faces, while on the black cube the pieces come in solid icons – making it easy to distinguish which imprints on the sand belong to which player.
