Space-saving options for people with tiny apartments in expensive cities

Space comes at a premium in expensive cities like London and New York, which makes choosing furniture an important decision. Enter Cut and Fold, a new Kickstarter project that features papercraft-inspired pieces made from folded plywood. Launched by architects Andrea Kordos and Tony Round, there is a choice between two space-saving pieces of furniture: Flip Shelf and Origami Chair.

The Flip Shelf is part sculptural, part functional and all playful! It saves space while folded against the wall and when raised, can be a side table for a lounge chair, a night stand for your bed or a parcel shelf at your front door. The optional LED light is great for reading and when folded, it creates a soft, in-direct mood light.
