'Behind the Sign' is a project that auctions off the one-of-a-kind creations, with proceeds going to The Doe Fund

‘Behind the Sign‘ is a student project created by Sine Marie Harwits and Neil Lopez that aims to raise awareness of the plight of homeless people, while also raising money for a worthwhile organization. There are thousands of homeless people in New York City who hold signs begging for our help. Unfortunately, most members of the public see them as just an annoyance.

This project's creators see their signs as visual pieces of art that only scratch the surface of their owner’s stories and tell a fraction of what has happened to them. They decided to try and help the homeless by holding auctions for five of these one-of-a-kind signs.
