Javascript web toy carves a jack o’ lantern, without the mess

Jack O’Lanterns, along with cotton spider webs and ghost costumes made from bedsheets, are quintessential Halloween decorations. Yet, preceding every neatly-carved pumpkin, there is a pile of seeds, fibrous strands, and “pulp” that must be cleaned out from inside the gourd. For some, this messy process is part of the tradition; for others, it’s simply a hassle.

For Halloween enthusiasts looking to avoid the mess, web developer Jaume Sánchez created “Jack O’Lantern,” an interactive website that lets users carve a virtual 3D pumpkin. Visitors can manually carve shapes or apply a stencil, share their creation on social channels, and spread Halloween spirit—without ever having to clean a pumpkin carving knife.
