The automaker will provide exclusive access to its Twitter fans by showcasing the short films to its social media followers first

Over the weekend, followers of the Lexus International Twitter account were given a sneak peek of two short films the company has created in partnership with The Weinstein Company.

The second annual Lexus Short Films Series had a red carpet premiere earlier this summer, but premieres online today for the rest of the world to see. Prior to that however, Lexus locked their Twitter account on Sunday, to allow its followers to have a one-day early access to the short films.

The inspiration behind making the Twitter account private, so that only accepted followers could view it, was akin to creating a ‘VIP pre-release movie screening', according to a press release. This event, which they've dubbed Silver Screen Access is the first of its kind for a brand on Twitter. According to the release, no other luxury brand has ever locked its account for a follower-only event before.
