Psoriasis affects 125 million people worldwide and 80% have the plaque type of the disease called psoriasis vulgaris. The disease triggers too much skin cell division which causes a rash of inflamed, reddish skin that forms white, dry scales. This often brings pain to the patients. The rashes form in exposed areas such as the elbows and knees. Because of how the psoriasis rash looks, many patients suffer psychological stress and develop low self-esteem.
