The aptly named "PhotoMath" will not only solve your problems, but tell you how it did it, too

There’s a new app that might help kids of all ages do math more quickly and less painfully. While, unlike a graphing calculator, it doesn’t offer the thrills of Fall Down, it is available — free — for your smartphone.

PhotoMath is a free mobile app that can read, solve, and walk the user through mathematical expressions of approximately a middle-school level of difficulty. Using their smartphone’s camera, a user can take a picture of a printed equation (no handwritten ones yet), watch the app solve the problem in real time, and then click through the problem-solving steps involved.
