A disparate team of 19 professionals had one goal: To create TBD, a potential guide for a probable tomorrow

The TBD team is comprised of designers, science fact and fiction writers, prototypers, cultural theorists, engineers, artists and makers. The catalog they made is fictional but remains true to the goal of how present behavior project into the future.

The process of creating TBD involved as much observation of the present as foraying into the future. The team becomes a representation of society and the dynamics it will take towards the future. The catalog, after all, according to the editor is “not hyperbolic perfections, but those things as they would exist as part of normal, ordinary, everyday life.” To be successful, TBD looked at present fictions, start-up ideas and prototypes and turned them into items that will inevitably regress to the mundane.
