The android is on her way to becoming a pleasant conversational companion

Humankind is one step closer to determining, once and for all, whether or not androids dream of electric sheep. If the answer comes in the near future, it may well be in Japanese sign language, as related by Toshiba's new humanoid bot.

The innovative android was showcased from October 7 to 11 at CEATEC JAPAN 2014, Japan's largest electronics and technology trade show and conference. The android Toshiba displayed has the specific, intended application of offering human companionship and conversation through Japanese sign language, but the company plans to use the same framework and technologies for a range of interactive bots.
