Tälja is a well-designed kit that aims to create an experience that helps users take a break from modern life and relax

Created by Jakob Nielsen, Tälja is a creative kit designed to allow users to take a pause, “step aside from modern life” and relax.

The word Tälja is Swedish for “wood carving” and that's exactly what the kit is for. This beautifully-designed kit comes with several wood carving essentials: a carving knife made with a thin steel blade and a birchwood handle, two pieces of Swedish wood which includes a branch of juniper and a piece of birchwood, two types of sandpaper that can be used to smooth out scratches and hard edges and give the carved object a smooth finish, and a 5 ml bottle of pure paraffin oil which is a natural mineral oil that helps make the carved objects last longer. The wood carving kit also comes with “how to” information as well as a couple of suggestions on what to carve to get the user started.
