Handheld Device for Crowdsourcing Air Pollution Data
The AirBeam is a powerful, portable tool that will measure air quality and share information on an online platform
Air pollution isn’t obtrusive – it remains invisible even when it has reached unhealthy levels and it can only be measured with special devices often too expensive for a private person. Government infrastructures, if they do exist, measure air qualities in locations, not necessarily the air humans inhale.
According to the WHO, urban outdoor pollution, usually from poor combustion of transport fuels, power generation and other human activities cause an estimated 1.3 million deaths worldwide per year.
