Future Hunter-Gatherer is a virtual grocery shopping experience inspired by nature

Future Hunter-Gatherer, a virtual grocery shopping experience inspired by nature, has been named the winner of the 2014 Electrolux Design Lab Competition. Designed by Pan Wang from China, studying at Central Saint Martins in the UK, the concept projects a hologram that lets users play a food-gathering game. It marks both the modernization and gamification of an everyday task.

The virtual hunting game requires users to gather food by fishing, hunting or gathering. The food they collect is then transmitted to the local grocery store or market, which gathers the goods and delivers them to the user’s door. In addition to making the shopping experience more fun, this experience also aims to give children a better understanding of where the food they eat actually comes from.
