Light necklace ushers in new wave of decorative wearable technology

At the current moment, wearable technologies are quite en vogue (heard of a smartwatch, anybody?), as consumers use device/mobile synchronization to monitor and analyze daily activities. To counter the emphasis most wearables places on utility, Polish media art and design collective PanGenerator has created a light-projection necklace that uses technology to enhance decorative jewelry.

Comprised of a smartphone app and a pico-projector, Neclumi is a “wearable projection” that displays geometric light patterns around a user’s neck. Wearers can choose between four responsive Neclumi designs:
