For their second printable footwear collaboration, the design and production leaders move beyond proving concept

United Nude and 3D Systems released their first 3D printable shoe — the Float — earlier this year to mixed reviews. The footwear was attractive, and had that “gadget” factor, but were less comfortable than might be desired. Their second printable shoe was unveiled at the world’s largest shoe store: the Level Shoe District in the Dubai Mall.

The exhibition, part of the Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience, brought the 3D printers into the public eye so viewers could see the shoes being printed to spec, on demand giving them direct insight about this new aspect for mass and bespoke fashion design.
