The iconic department store is the first luxury retailer to leverage Instagram activity directly into brick-and-mortar sales

Liberty is known for its spectacular Christmas shop, which sells two baubles a minute, and now a new loyalty app will give people even more reason to pay the store a visit. The luxury destination has partnered with Tapestry, a free iPhone app for fashion lovers, to offer bespoke in-store perks based on Instagram likes and purchase history.

Tapestry is an initiative by The Upside, a London based innovation consultancy, which was designed for the smartphone generation. Instagram is the fashion destination of choice for fashion lovers in the digital age; the site gets 15 times more engagement than Facebook among this group according to L2 Think Tank’s Instagram 2014 report with Olapic.
