The classic Brooks England bicycle brand teams up with Carrera to design a fashionable bike helmet

Brooks England, the bicycle company well-known for their bicycle saddle and leather goods since the mid 1800's, and Carrera, the racing company, perhaps better known for their sunglasses and sports eyewear, recently launched a set of new bicycle helmets – models “J.B. Classic” and “J.B. Special.”

The helmets were inspired by vintage leather hairnets that were popular with professional racing cyclists during the 1970's. Leather “hairnet” helmets were simple strips of padding covered with leather forming a ring around the head with several strips over the top. They offered minimal protection, and quickly faded into the history books as modern helmet technology gathered pace.
