Once upon a time, airport VIP lounges were a simple proposition. You had your frequent flyer account with the airline you used most or liked best, which gave you access to their lounge. You used that lounge. If it was full, you found a bar and waited your turn.

It was a simpler time.

Flurries of cooperative networks, partnerships with credit cards and buyers’ clubs, airline mergers and changes to travel regulations have thrown the entire system into chaos. Flyers are often members of multiple lounges at once, and corporate decisions might change those memberships at a moment’s notice.
