Sensor Packed Eyewear Tracks Fatigue and Posture
Meme glasses exhibit Japanese style, but sync to smartphones for high-tech health monitoring
When choosing eyewear, do you prefer classically stylish Warby Parkers or tech-forward Google Glass? Now, you may no longer have to choose between fashion and function; Japanese eyewear designer Jins has debuted a line of stylish glasses that are equipped to track fatigue and posture.
Named Memes, Jins’ futuristic frames rely upon an electrooculography (EOG) sensor system: sensors at the base of the frame, in the nose pads, and above the nose measure eye movement and blinking frequency. Additional six-axis acceleration sensors on the earpieces track body position and movement, while a battery fits inside the arm.
