Albert Hejin store offers custom edible cake decorations, made in real time

Last month, we reported that Hershey's was joining the 3D printing revolution by offering a printer that made custom treats in white, sweet and dark chocolate. This week, Dutch supermarket Albert Hejin is applying that technology with a new offering for their shoppers.

Albert Hejin bakery customers can now create, print and purchase custom cake decorations, made in real time with a 3D printer.

A customer who wants the decorations begins by using a Doodle3D to design the decoration, which can be as simple as a sketched heart or a complex geometric design. The software converts the sketch into a printable 3D model, and sends it to the printer on site.
