Brooklyn Car Garage Transformed Into Multi-Functional Creative Hub
Kinfolk Studios teams up with Architect John Berg to create 'hippie-mathematician' event space, retail shop and hidden bar
Head through a two-story atrium style entrance at 90 Wythe Avenue in Brooklyn, New York to find Kinfolk 90, a creative hub for the folks of Kinfolk Studios. Architect John Berg converted the former mechanics garage into a multi-functional coffee shop, bar, event space and retail shop. The space marks a return of Kinfolk to the East after having set up shop in Los Angeles, Tokyo and other areas in Williamsburg.
Berg was tasked to design the low-rise industrial building as a “Pacific NorthWest hippie Mathematician.” The result is a gypsy-inspired refurbished wooden igloo, with an interior that pays homage to its surrounding community through the use of wood salvaged from a local, repurposed factory.
