Artist Travels the World on Intricately-Doodled Passports
An interview with the man who ‘tattoos' travel documents
For many travelers, a full passport—teeming with visas, entrance stamps, and the occasional wear and tear—is a sign of pride and accomplishment. But can passports double as works of art? According to doodler Leonard Combier, they absolutely can.
Leonard, an artist who works primarily in black ink, drew on his first passport during a particularly boring university lecture, where he asked his friend if he could doodle inside the document. His friend agreed, and Leonard was particularly pleased with the outcome. He uploaded some examples to art blog Doodlers Anonymous and submitted an open call to decorate other passports.
