In-person social network's changing membership gives a unique look at what we care about

Life imitates art. In the last season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Coulson remarked how easy surveillance is in the 21st century because social media encourages people to survey themselves. In a less sinister but more concrete example, the real-life social network site Meetup has completed a year-end study that identified the shifting interests of America across all its states and territories.

The study analyzed the growth of membership and activity of the different interest categories favored by its members to see where the trends lie.
