How Free Waffles are Shifting the Delivery Service Industry
Partnership between fast food restaurant chain and startup Roadie provides complimentary incentives for app users
It’s not every day that your cargo subsidized road trip comes with unlimited free waffles and soda, but a new deal with Waffle House and delivery service startup Roadie is giving drivers something sweet to look forward to before they hit the open road. In an interesting collaboration, service drivers can now take pit spots at any of the 1750 locations for complimentary food and beverage in exchange for using the app.
Roadie, the mobile app-based shipping platform connects drivers with car space and people with packages. The peer-to-peer carpooling service for goods lets drivers earn extra cash by transporting their neighbors’ paintings, bicycles or books. Typically, Roadies and the sender will meet up at a local destination to pass off the deliveries, and the Waffle House has jumped at the opportunity to act as the “official meeting location.”
