Chhirp will let you upload 12-sec sound clips on Twitter instead of just the traditional 140 characters

The 140 characters limit on Twitter has been translated into 12-second audio clips by a new app called Chhirp. With Chhirp, users will be able to share soundbites instead of just boring old text to eager followers. The Chhirps will be easy to listen to on both the Twitter page and app or on Chhirp’s own newsfeed.

Hearing minus the seeing does seem very new in a world dominated by selfies and cat videos. Chhirp is now intent on growing its user base and the app’s official account has already picked up some interesting “chhirps” uploaded to the app. Many people recorded sound from their environment while many had crazier ideas.
