PSFK Watch Week: Smartwatches may not just be notification central, but key and wallet killers

How do you expect to use the Apple Watch?

If you’re like the majority of the target consumers (or smartwatch advertisements), you probably anticipate checking notifications immediately, sorting emails, tracking exercise or snoozing alarms. What if we told you that, rather than counting miles, you’re more likely to use watches to open doors, unlock the car, and turn down your bed for sleep? More than content digestion, true watch utility lies in gesture control.

In preparation for the April 24 release of the Apple Watch, PSFK presents Watch Week, a weeklong focus on watch technology and design. In this series, we speak to different creatives (from typographers to product designers) about their strategies, challenges and opportunities when designing for smartwatches.
