The collaboration will combine the companies' specialty tech in the hope of safer, simpler surgeries

Last week, Johnson & Johnson announced the kickoff of a collaboration between its Ethicon division and Google’s Life Sciences team, a pairing that seeks to innovate robotic surgical technology in the near future.

Google stated that—to supplement Ethicon’s background in pioneering minimally invasive, high-tech surgery tools—its team “will help explore how the latest innovations in computer science and advanced imaging and sensors could be integrated into tools that help surgeons as they operate.”
