Mudwatt lets kids explore several scientific disciplines while playing with history's oldest toy: dirt

If there are a handful of things that almost every kid goes crazy for, they certainly include smartphones, adorable graphics, and MUD! Currently promoting their project on Kickstarter, the team at MudWatt has hit the jackpot by combining all three in a low-cost, reusable (and totally fun) educational tool.

At the heart of MudWatt kits and curricula is a durable tub that needs filling up with nice, soggy dirt, and which engages young minds on topics ranging from biology to physics, energy, and engineering. Once a kid has filled up her electrode-equipped MudWatt unit with dirt, the energy production process begins, causing a MudWatt cup’s LED light to start blinking in just a few days.
