Codie brings simple programming to young minds

Codie is a toy that teaches children the basics of coding while building problem-solving and critical thinking skills. The toy, which looks and acts much like a programmable Roomba, will walk young programmers through techniques including if-else structures, variables and loops.

The language of Codie programming is layered so that children will learn progressively more complex concepts the longer they play with the application. The more complex concepts that are unlocked, the more Codie can do as a toy. The application blocks skills together, and uses colored strings in the user interface and tutorial to indicate order of operations. Though simple, it introduces programming basics to children via a free smart phone app that connects to Codie via Bluetooth.
