Artists’ Installation is a Room with Emotionally Charged Interiors
Elmgreen & Dragset turn the Perrotin gallery space into a densely furnished bedroom overlooked by a golden vulture
Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset, the artist duo known as Elmgreen & Dragset, are having a solo exhibition in New York at the Galerie Perrotin. The exhibition will be the artists’ first show in New York after more than 10 years.
The exhibition is called Past Tomorrow and is a reflection of the artists’ exploration into narratives by creating emotionally-charged domestic interiors.
The exhibition is a sequel to Tomorrow, their 2013 exhibition at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, where the artists transformed the Textile Galleries into a London apartment, complete with full kitchen, living room, dining room, study, and bedrooms. The Tomorrow exhibition featured items that reflected the personality and background of its fictional inhabitant, Norman Swann, a failed architect haunted by his dreams and incomplete projects.
