An NYC-based studio is imagining the look, feel, and pawned items of tomorrow

Right now, the Extrapolation Factory is offering a peek at the second-hand goods of 2050 with Pawn Tomorrow, an online shop filled with gadgets cast off by the next generation and imagined by today’s public.

Ranging from sci-fi-like medical equipment to “See Yourself as a Human” goggles, the items represent future scenarios inspired by “current and predicted technological developments” and question the circumstances and value systems of possible eras to come.

Speaking to PSFK by phone, studio masterminds Elliott P. Montgomery and Chris Woebken explained that Future Pawn products were theorized and put together by participants in future-building workshops at the Museum of Art and Design and by visitors to the project’s onsite, pop-up pawn shop at the museum.
