The Dune set is playful yet modular and modern seating

What might the high-end beanbag chair of the future look like?

The design group Smarin (led by Marseille-born designer Stéphanie Marin) has found an answer, coming forward with a set of sand dune-like foam lounge chairs called Dune that can function indoors or out and fit together as a set.

The result manages to be both visually cohesive and relaxed.

The sculptural, cloud-like pieces come in four sizes: Erg, at 43 x 21 inches, Barkhane, at 85 x 26 inches, Nebka, at 67 x 30 inches, and a second Nebka that is a relatively miniscule 19 x 12 inches. The modular pieces can be combined in a variety of ways to create sofas, lounge chairs or even a guest bed.
