With its recent eMotion project, Samsung is just one of many entities proposing immersive VR as medical treatment

Samsung Italia recently paid a visit to young patients at the Santa Maria Goretti Hospital in Latina to demonstrate the technical prowess of Samsung Gear VR but also the healing benefits of just being a kid on a virtual day out.

The one-day eMotion project offered pediatric patients the chance to visit the “Movieland” theme park and ride its roller coasters, flip around in the sun, and just take in sights they're not regularly able to access, all in VR.

Samsung Italia wrote that the project's aim is “to help hospitalized children to face recovery in a whole new way, bringing the light-heartedness typical of childhood back into their lives.”
