Suntory Whisky fashions slow-melting and polished ice cubes that mirror its style

Full-service Tokyo advertising agency TBWA\Hakuhodo has transformed ice cubes into artistic masterpieces in a campaign for Japan’s Suntory Whisky called 3D on the Rocks.

The agency used a computer controlled cutting machine called a CNC router and a process resembling inverse 3D printing to carve designs in blocks of ice.

Designs ranged from historical landmarks like the Sphinx and Statue of Liberty, to pop culture icons like Batman or Mario. Additional designs included an astronaut, guitar, heeled shoe, diamond ring, Apple computer and mermaid.
