Screentendo lets you transform your Google Search or work spreadsheets into nostalgic fun

Coder Aaron Randall could have made the best or worst computing invention for a long time, depending on whether the user has the ability to refrain from such a tempting game when things need to get done. Screentendo is a desktop app that enables keen gamers to transform any selection of a screen into a playable level of the hit 80s platform videogame Super Mario Bros.

When launched, it works by revealing a semi-transparent window that can be moved and resized over the top of other applications. After placing the Screentendo window over an area of the screen, clicking inside the window will enable the app to render a game level, cleverly based on the content beneath it.
