Mask Out Life’s Crying Babies with Noise-Filtering Hearables
Here Active Listening acts like a music studio in your ears to curate your sound environment
The world can be hard on the ears sometimes. Traffic or subway noise, loud music, crying babies and more add to the assault on our eardrums. Noise-cancelling headphones help reduce some of these, but they can’t add reverb to a concert, filter out crying babies, or just generally turn down the volume. That’s the idea behind Here Active Listening, a system designed to let you control and adjust the sounds you hear in real time.
Here consists of a pair of wireless earbuds, connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth. The accompanying app controls them through a volume knob, equalizer, and effects that alter the live audio you hear. The earbuds do not stream or play recorded music; rather, they apply your settings to any audio around you.
