Re-Pack Milk is easier and quicker to recycle than traditional milk containers

Recycling isn’t the be-all, end-all solution to our planet’s environmental challenges, but it’s one of the methods we’ve adopted most enthusiastically. For example, modern milk packaging has six layers of cardboard and plastic, which must be removed and recycled with different methods for each. This makes recycling ironically resource-intensive. Until Danilo Saito and friends had a crack at it.

Saito has repackaged milk with a new container that eliminates five of the six steps, making the recycling far more efficient. The new carton is composed of layers of recyclable cardboard and a cornstarch bioplastic that are separated at all steps of manufacture and loading, and thus easy to separate while recycling the container.
